How to install WordPress Locally on your PC

Installing WordPress on a local server is very easy. You just need to follow some major steps. You can’t install WordPress on your computer directly. For this, first, you need to create a localhost environment on your computer then install WordPress in it.

There are three major steps to installing WordPress.

  1. Create a localhost environment on your system.
  2. Download WordPress from its official website.
  3. Install WordPress on Local Server.

These major steps can be completed by some simple steps.

Step 1 Install the local server on your computer

For installing any CMS, or management system you need to create a localhost environment in your pc.

Step 2: Download WordPress

You can download the latest WordPress version from their official website.

Step 3: Installing WordPress on Windows

For installing in your system you need to follow a few easy steps mentioned below.

Step 3.1 Creating a Database

Every website needs a database to store its data. First, you need to create a database for your WordPress site. Go to localhost/PHPMyAdmin on your browser. You will get the database dashboard. Click on “New” and provide a name in the database name field then click on “Create“.

Step 3.2 Put WordPress in XAMPP htdocs Directory

Extract the WordPress downloaded zip file. Copy this folder

Go to the XAMPP directory in your system drive. Open the htdocs folder (Found inside the XAMPP directory) and paste the WordPress folder in the htdocs folder.

You can rename the WordPress folder name with any name you want. This name will be the URL of the local WordPress site.

Step 3.3 Install WordPress on LocalHost

Now open your browser and type localhost/WordPress (name of your WordPress folder in the htdocs) on the address bar and press enter.

Now the installation process is started. Select language and click “Continue”.

Then the setup shows you some information to connect your WordPress site with a database.

After that, you will get the screen that will ask you about some information such as database name, username, password, host and table prefix.

You need to enter the database name first (the database you have created in the previous step). Then the username is ‘root’ and you can leave the password field empty. You also don’t need to change the home, leave that as by default.

And Click on the ‘submit’ button

On the next screen, you will get the message that WordPress is connected to the database. And now you can perform your further installation process.

On the next screen, you need to provide a title for your WordPress site. Enter the username and password. And last, provide the admin email.

Once you have filled all the information, click on the ‘Install WordPress‘ button.

Now your WordPress website is ready to use.

You can now login to your WordPress website dashboard by clicking on the ‘login‘ button.
